THE LOVE GURU

Biological models of sex tend to view love as a mammalian drive, much like hunger or thirst.Helen Fisher, a leading expert in the topic of love, divides the experience of love into three partly overlapping stages: lust, attraction, and attachment. Lust exposes people to others; romantic attraction encourages people to focus their energy on mating; and attachment involves tolerating the spouse long enough to rear a child into infancy.

Lust is the initial passionate sexual desire that promotes mating, and involves the increased release of chemicals such as testosterone and estrogen. These effects rarely last more than a few weeks or months. Attraction is the more individualized and romantic desire for a specific candidate for mating, which develops out of lust as commitment to an individual mate forms. Recent studies in neuroscience have indicated that as people fall in love, the brain consistently releases a certain set of chemicals, including pheromones, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, which act in a manner similar to amphetamines, stimulating the brain's pleasure center and leading to side effects such as increased heart rate, loss of appetite and sleep, and an intense feeling of excitement. Research has indicated that this stage generally lasts from one and a half to three years.

Since the lust and attraction stages are both considered temporary, a third stage is needed to account for long-term relationships. Attachment is the bonding that promotes relationships lasting for many years and even decades. Attachment is generally based on commitments such as marriage and children, or on mutual friendship based on things like shared interests. It has been linked to higher levels of the chemicals oxytocin and vasopressin to a greater degree than short-term relationships have. In 2005, Italian scientists at Pavia University found that a protein molecule known as the nerve growth factor (NGF) has high levels when people first fall in love, but these return to previous levels after one year. Specifically, four neurotrophin levels (NGF, BDNF, NT-3, and NT-4) of 58 subjects who had recently fallen in love were compared with levels in a control group who were either single or already engaged in a long-term relationship. The results showed that NGF levels were significantly higher in the subjects in love than as compared to either of the control groups.

SCRIBBLES

EMOTIONS IN THE SCRIBBLES ON TABLES

Scribbles are defined as a variation of lines or curves in different lengths, intensities and textures which are combined together to form a vague image that floats in our mind at a particular time. Scribbling can be done on almost anything such as papers, walls and tables. Different media scribbled on brings different meaning altogether. Scribbling on papers is done in order to correct a sketch or word because we are too lazy to use correction tape or the eraser. Scribbling on walls is usually done to get the attention of the public and a place to show the true artistic nature of notorious teens by graffiti writings. Scribbling on tables is mostly done due to the flash of emotions at a certain time and is also a way to keep ourselves entertained when bored. Different emotions have different types of scribbles.

Among the emotions that cause scribbling on tables is anger. Anger could lead to some harsh words on tables but with wonderful unseen before fonts. Anger due to friends, relationships or money brings out scribbles with darker tone and more jagged and rough edges on the image or fonts. Most words written in rage end with the exclamation mark or two question marks and an exclamation mark in between both of the question marks. It is uncertain why, but it may be seen as a form of shouting out or shouting out without knowing why.

Scribbles may also be due to anxiety or anxiousness. An anxious person’s scribble may have no meaning to the world. It is often unorganized and un-understandable to others. It looks almost like a toddler’s scribble but more fine. Unusual fonts are used and most of the time phrases end with a question mark. The scribbles are also lightly coloured and may look swirly or wavy. These scribbles occur because the mind of an anxious person is partially confused and is in many places at one time trying to predict what is about to happen or what he/she is about to get or face. In short they feel worried. These scribbles are also often involuntary and that is why scribbles of people with this type of emotion are always unclear to the others who take a glance at it.

Sadness brings out many types of scribbles because sadness is too subjective, meaning there are many types of sadness and it may be caused by many factors and each factor may bring out a different type of image or phrase scribbled. For instance, a broken hearted person may often scribble an image of a cracked or split heart and write phrases to blame the opposite sex in general. A person who has just lost a belonging may blame the world of being unfair. These types of scribbles may be light or dark, solid shapes or fonts which are usually coloured or shaded by lines of different intensities. The images or phrases are just a way to express their suppressed feelings and how they think they look like inside their mind or heart.

An empty or bored person may just scribble nonsensical shapes and just write their friends names with a phrase before or after the name. For example, “Christopher is a freak”. The shapes are often thick dark circles or weird polygons which are continuously drawn over and over again on that shape itself. The names and phrases are often drawn with normal handwriting but the phrases are often written to make fun of their friends. This helps the scribbler to laugh and entertain his bored to death brain.

A happy person may scribble nice images of flowers or butterflies. These kinds of scribbles are always seen and complimented by peers because it actually means something and is understandable. The lines are smooth and often of different intensities and textures to which gives a tone to bring out the picture. It is also very rare to see a nice image scribbled because most people who are happy may not have the mood or skill to produce a good scribble. No one will acknowledge a beautiful image scribbled as being happy. The only visible cause for that scribble will be talent or the skill of the scribbler. A person who is happy because of love may scribble hearts and roses and other love related symbols. Love may also awaken the hidden poet in a person and this often leads to amateur poems with wonderful handwriting on the surface of an innocent table.

Scribbles on tables may come from many moods and emotions but the most important thing that may cause a scribble on a table is a pencil, a table, a boring lecture and a flash of emotions. Sometimes scribbling happens involuntarily but may produce some good images. Our emotions come to life in our scribbles. The slightest scribble for many people mean nothing but to the scribbler it means a thousand words. To the people who own the tables it may be vandalism but for many including the scribblers it is an unrecognized form of art which speaks the mind of the scribbler.
